THE TEAM
The Global Data & Analytics unit is a multinational team of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence experts as well as data venture managers and UX specialists. Our mission is to create the right conditions for the most promising new technologies and new data-driven business models to develop and, eventually, hatch. The team is responsible for identifying most promising venture ideas, prioritizing them according their impact potential, giving them the space and resources to thrive, always hand-in-hand with business partners, often in collaboration with Academia.

HIRING CONTEXT
In the past two years, the Global Advanced Analytics & AI team focus was on delivering intelligent automation projects across the organization based on several Machine Learning and Deep Learning Techniques, e.g. NLP and Object Detection. As business demand is growing fast, we seek an experienced data scientist with a real passion to map business needs to statistical models, paired with a strong motivation for problem solving to deliver valuable solutions for the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Being part of our team you will …
– design AI-based solutions that can bring ideas from pilot to commercially viable reality
– evaluate different techniques, tools and approaches to a large variety of machine learning problems
– develop algorithms for data preparation, feature extraction, data analytics and machine learning
– train, validate and test machine learning models in order to achieve a best-in-class performance in large scale
– support the design of data models on modern DBMS (SQL and NoSQL) as well as in Hadoop DFS, Hive and Hbase
– support the deployment of productive solutions together with product development, data engineers and data architects
– write reusable, testable and scalable code
– perform code reviews, test case reviews and ensure code developed meets the requirements
– communicate and discuss complex analytical and technical concepts to a business audience
QUALIFICATIONS:
– Ph.D. or Master degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline
– Hands-on experience in several ML methods – above all, supervised and unsupervised learning methods (e.g. gradient boosting, random forest, clustering algorithms, different deep neural networks architectures)
– 3 to 5 years working experience as a data scientist with profound practical knowledge of the various ML model classes, incl. neural networks and deep learning
– Strong background in non-linear optimization, algorithm development, feature extraction, and signal processing
– Coding in Python, SQL and Spark
– Familiarity with the SciKit-Learn stack and one out of TensorFlow or PyTorch
– Knowledge of source control management systems (git) and CI/CD flows
– Experience in implementing machine learning solutions on AWS or Azure is considered as a plus
– Interest in acting as “bridge” to product development team and business stakeholders
– Taste for collaborating internationally and across cultural borders, willing to undertake international business travel
– Excellent writing and communication skills, considering varying levels of precision and matching the audience
– Fluent in English; German language skills are seen as a plus
